 So a few weeks ago I tried installing a port on my mac but when it scanned
 the libraries for linking errors afterward, it told me that some ports
 were broken. It tried to fix them all, but it eventually got down to their
 dependancy, tiff, which apparently wasn't working properly. After trying
 to clean tiff and uninstall and reinstall macports, I found out how to
 forcefully uninstall it. Now, when I try to reinstall tiff, all it says is
 this:

 $ sudo port install tiff

 --->  Building tiff
 Error: org.macports.build for port tiff returned: command execution failed

 I tried looking in the log file, and it seems to all come down to
 unidentified symbols for architecture x86_64, but everything below that is
 greek to me.
