 Its a choice the ROOT devs have made to minimise the problems they have to
 deal with. Yes, in theory some mixing of compilers could work, but its not
 absolute, in that some combinations will have problems. For this reason an
 enforcement of the same compiler is made. In practise this is not a
 constraint within the scientific world where ROOT is primarily used, as it
 is very much common practise to enforce a single compiler within a given
 suite of experiment software. Cross compilation is not a requirement.

 So its not about being right or wrong. Its a choice that has been made for
 various reasons. Whether or not you agree with them or not is up to you.

 Anyway, can I suggest we stop discussing the rights or wrongs of ROOTs
 build system, as that not really the issue at hand. It is what it is.
 Going back the the 10.6 compilation failures, could you check to see if
 the livcxx port is actually being used in the buildbot compilation that
 fails ?
