 startup items from ~/.rootrc, but moving it to old.rootrc allowed ROOT6 to
 open.  I will see if this also resolves my problems compiling my own
 ROOT6.

 By the way, I now tried commenting out line-by-line my rootrc file to see
 which one causes the problem, it's this one:
 Unix.*.Root.UseThreads:     true
