 Here's a

 Homebrew recipe] which addresses most of the issues mentioned on the
 mailing list:
   * python support should be (fixed and) enabled in `libnewt` (currently
 it finds all python versions in `/usr/include/python`)
   * `BYOBU_PREFIX` and maybe `BYOBU_CONFIG_DIR` need to be set to
 `${prefix}` (which sounds like an upstream issue with `byobu`, but that
 one is at least easily "fixable" by users)
