 I notice that gtk2 includes the following post-activate block which will
 NOT be executed in the mpkg:

 Perhaps one of these steps does some magic with the mime files?

 In addition, any post-activate code in any dependency will also not have
 been performed.  You'll need to spleunk around to find out what each of
 the ports does and then do it manually.   I think this is documented
 somewhere but it really should be shouted out in bold caps.  Wonder if
 there is a ticket about enhancing the packaging code to allow us to do
 this sort of stuff at install time?
