 Well, fontforge does require an X11 server. Which one are you wanting to
 use? OS X's (if you have a version of OS X that came with one)? MacPorts'
 (from the xorg-server port)? Xquartz's? Whichever you want to use, is your
 DISPLAY environment variable set up correctly to auto-launch that X11
 server? If not, you'll have to manually launch that X11 server first, at
 least.
