 I'm going to wait until we hear back from students about GSoC. If there
 are no takers, I'll find a way to get this into my queue here and there
 and hopefully piece something together. My "current" effort is so old I
 don't think it has any value. I agree that if anyone has made progress I'd
 love to hear about it and see the patches / Portfile / recipe used to get
 the progress.
