 I do not see this problem on Mac OS X 10.5.8 with Xcode 3.1.4 (nor any
 other system).

 Please confirm: what version of Xcode do you have? If not 3.1.4, try
 upgrading to that, since it is the latest version for Mac OS X 10.5.8.
