 I've since installed the MacPorts git, so I've included both that and the
 built-in version query:

 {{{
 /usr/bin/git --version
 git version 1.9.3 (Apple Git-50)

 git --version
 git version 2.1.2
 }}}

 Changing git_path fixed it completely. Is it save to leave that setting
 that way when doing future selfupdates?
