 Changing my VirtualBox vm machines network adapter from "Bridged Adapter"
 to "NAT" I get the same failure. Changing back to "Bridged Adapter" and
 curl succeeds. Bridged Adapters also make it possible to ssh to guest vm's
 from non-host terminals.
