 The current current version of boost installed by MacPorts does not
 support Boost.MPI anymore. I rely quite heavily on Boost.MPI for my
 programs and assume that others do so as well. It seems that support for
 Boost.MPI was removed in Revision 125939 as remove compiler variants.
 Looking at the patch, all it does seems to be removing Boost.MPI, which
 seems a bit odd, particularly since one referenced ticket reports a
 problem trying to install boost with the openmpi variant.
