 This has already been discussed and confirmed on MacPorts-Users:

 clang-mp-3.4 is unexplicably slower than e.g. gcc-mp-4.8 on OS X 10.6.8
 (and that gcc instance seems to compile at the expected speed, not
 slower), while almost the same version shipped by Apple is *significantly*
 faster than gcc-mp-4.8 on OS X 10.9 . Clang-3.4 as provided for Ubuntu
 (14.04) is also considerably faster than gcc-4.8 on that platform.

 What is going on here?
