Comment:

 I've just updated the port over the last few days and the documentation
 has not caught up.  One of the dependencies still defaults to the old
 mysql5 port.  You need to specify some variants to get the correct
 flavours:

 {{{
 sudo port install mythtv-core.27 +mariadb+mariadb55+python27+perl5_16
 }}}

 Let me know how it goes.  As 'port notes mythtv-core.27' says, the
 database is now MariaDB 5.5 rather than MySQL 5.1.  There are some changes
 and an additional step or two required to get Myth setup and ready to run.
 I'll put a note here when I've updated the docs...
