 I ended up making a symlink in
 /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/MacOSX.platform/Developer/SDKs
 MacOSX10.10.sdk -> MacOSX10.9.sdk
 cmake now compiles. what could possibly go wrong
