 That part of the guide may not have been updated since the GSoC '08
 privileges branch was merged into trunk.

 Try anywhere else on disk. Inside /tmp/ for example. Or change the
 permissions of your home directory so all users can read it, if you're not
 concerned about other users accessing your files.
