 My workaround to get ghc installed on Yosemite is to edit /opt/local/share
 /ghc-bootstrap/bin/ghc-7.0.4 replacing the line

 pgmgcc="/usr/bin/gcc"

 with

 pgmgcc="/opt/local/bin/gcc-mp-4.8"

 maybe you could fix the ghc-bootstrap package with that simple fix
 (replacing the compiler with the one selected from the variant) to
 alleviate the problem until #44891 will be fixed
