 I'm seeing this problem occur after upgrading to gimp 2.8.14 (previously
 had 2.8.10 installed).  No file types are recognized outside of .xcf.  I
 tried the brute force method of blowing out all gimp components (uninstall
 --follow-dependents gimp2) and reinstalling but no success.  No errors
 during the port install, no errors in launching via gimp-app (although it
 takes a long time to "Query new Plug-ins" on launch).  When I launch
 "gimp" from Terminal I get this message many times but it may be
 unrelated:
 (gimp:32501): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error

 Perhaps this is just a config issue?
