 I just ran into a similar problem trying to build boost on a G5 iMac
 running 10.5.8:

 MacPorts wants to force me to use mp-clang-3.4, which cannot be built (at
 least not out of the box). I built mp-clang-3.3, but boost refuses to take
 the +clang33 variant.
