 Well ... I can update SuiteSparse, but the update is not compatible with
 Octave (@3.8.1). A quick search does not turn up patches to fix this. I'll
 ping the Octave devs to see if they know about this issue. I'd prefer to
 not update SuiteSparse until other projects use the new APIs.
