 I have looked into building the mysql sphinx plugin and the INSTALL file
 in the source says to copy the mysqlse directory to the mysql source and
 build mysql after some additional steps to add the sphinx storage engine
 to the mysql configure script. And this is for mysql 5.0 and 5.1, newer
 mysqls including percona and mariadb use cmake now.

 gulios: would you be able to check with the sphinx devs to see if and how
 it is possible to build the mysql sphinx plugin for mysql 5.5+ derived
 mysql databases?
