 It's only recently become a major problem since now gtk-doc has an
 indirect dependency on boost, and lots of things use gtk-doc. I'll ask the
 maintainer of gtk-doc to revert the change that introduced the indirect
 boost dependency.

 See #45170 for this request.  I've attached a patch there that removes the
 gtk-doc dependency on boost on older systems but this is just a work
 around.  The problem with boost remains and it effects a number of other
 C++ based ports as well (175 by my count).
