Comment:

 The attached patch, which removes the Tiger-specific block to disable
 gobject introspection, fixes the problem for me. Any objections?

 I suspect gobject introspection was being disabled in this port
 specifically for Tiger because gobject introspection cannot be compiled
 with the old make 3.80 on Tiger. But we handle that now in the
 gobject_introspection portgroup by using a newer make from MacPorts, and I
 suspect the "Need to define" error indicates an incompatibility with make
 3.80 as well.
