 Committed in r143164 merging existing glx related patch into yours.

 This improves the operation of the OpenGL Area widget in gtk3-demo (over
 libepoxy 1.2) but it's still not completely functional.  Instead of
 rendering graphics, it reports
 {{{
 The GLX_ARB_create_context_profile extension needed to create core
 profiles is not available.
 }}}

 This may be true, but I'm not sure if this is a requirement of libepoxy,
 the widget or just the particular demo.  Looking into it but if you have
 any insight or suggestions, please let me know.
