 arpack(-ng) received a major bug fix starting with version @3.3.0 , that
 replaces a temporary fix in version 3.2.0 (https://github.com/opencollab
 /arpack-ng/blob/master/CHANGES).
 The current upstream version is @3.4.0.
 Version 3.1.5 as available with macports is known to return eigenvalues
 and vectors in the incorrect order in many cases when called with
 'rvec=true'.
 This is significant as many uses of arpack require just 1 or 2 extremal
 eigenvalues and vectors, leading to unreliable results.
