 Please see if that helps with your issue.

 I have the new version of xinit active and the only change I can observe
 is that now `xorg-server @1.17.4_1` also leaves the socket and the lock
 file intact. I could observe that the numbers in the lock file and the
 socket are incremented and that /tmp/.X11-unix can hold more than one
 socket.
