 As I could figure out in between, one can work around this problem
 specifying a non-Xcode compiler:
 {{{
 $ sudo port install libvisio-0.1 configure.compiler=macports-gcc-4.9
 }}}
 However, a fix for a solution accepting gcc from Xcode 4.2 should be
 possible.
