 Unfortunately I can't reproduce this on my pre-Mavericks machine. I'll
 have to find a coworker with a newer computer that I can borrow to see if
 that makes a difference.

 It sounds like you're working off of a fresh install, but just in case, it
 might possibly help to completely remove miriad, make sure that all other
 MacPorts packages are updated, then reinstall.
