Comment:

 Oh, it didn't work.  During the install, for some reason ghc 7.8.3_1 was
 built from source rather than being downloaded (took about an hour), and
 then various of the hs-* packages didn't install correctly.  Attached is
 the trimmed output from restore_ports and the two relevant logs referred
 to.  :-(
