No. If you use a version tag it is able to figure out whether there's a
new version.
(I haven't looked into that yet, still needs to be done.)

The port command computes them. You can see them in the log, or when you
issue {{{sudo port -d extract}}}!

I didn't remove anything, I added "/monthly", because I wondered why the
text only contained "weekly".

Yes.
