 Yeah, that's fair.

 In the meanwhile, is there a way for me to package my patch in such a way
 that my Macports would pick it and apply to my build, while we all are
 waiting for the OpenSSL developers to weigh in? Because regardless of what
 & when they decide, I need this patch for as long as I'm using Mac OS X.
 (And I've dealt enough with cryptography to know that my patch is safe, so
 my computers ''will'' run it, even if others won't.)
