 At the time when I upgraded the system there was no Yosemite version of
 MacPorts yet. When the installer appeared on the website I ended up
 removing the old version following instructions from
 https://guide.macports.org/#installing.macports.uninstalling and
 installing everything from scratch. To make sure that I did not miss
 anything I removed MacPorts again and installed from freshly downloaded
 installer. Installer completed without errors. To make sure that I had up
 to date versions of all packages I ran "port selfupdate" and "port upgrade
 outdated".

 On Maverick I also had Homebrew installed, but I removed it before second
 attempt to install MacPorts, following instructions from brew's FAQ.
