Comment:

 We can try but first you have to help us.  Please do a clean build of the
 port and attach the resulting main.log showing the failure to this ticket.
 Without this we have no idea what the problem is.

 sudo port install gimp

 The path to the log file should be included in the error message or can be
 found by executing
 {{{
 port logfile gimp
 }}}

 after the failure occurs.
