 We provide *_select for user-facing stuff, mainly executables. OTOH,
 db_select links headers and libraries only. I don’t see the use case
 there, and it obviously makes ports vulnerable to using a different
 version than they wanted if the order of -L and -I flags is not carefully
 controlled.
