 Please understand that this is a complicated situation. For instance, I
 have no idea how this port is related to `gcc5`, for instance, and have
 never used `mpich`.

 I can only reiterate ryans concerns: this port is installing libraries and
 using `use_configure no` -- thus, it will need to:

 # Do something to add [get_canonical_archflags cc] and
 [get_canonical_archflags ld] to CFLAGS/LDFLAGS.
 # Because you're not using configure, you're probably required to add it
 to build.env,
 # but I don't know your build system and if it accepts environment

 used Fortran and genuinely no idea how this works...
