 No, I think you must have covered about all the states that the VM I was
 working on could have been in at the time. Let's say it was a false alarm.

 sudo port build poppler
 }}}

 ports are reactivated as needed when building (or installing) another
 port, provided there is no ambiguity which version one to activate?
