Comment:

 oh, actually it's worse than that. After fixing that and getting it to
 generate cache files, squid is failing on startup with:

 FATAL: Ipc::Mem::Segment::create failed to ftruncate(/squid-
 cf__metadata.shm): (22) Invalid argument
