 If it helps at all, I know that I tend to upgrade MP often.  And, I just
 upgraded to OS10.10 a week or so ago.  So, I have used numpy 1.9 with no
 problems.  I see that I had 1.9.2 installed, and had used numpy and pandas
 in the last month.  So, I'm pretty sure that something about either the
 upgrade, or the fact of reinstalling everything, caused the problem for
 me.
