 Issue confirmed on my PowerBook G4 with Leopard. The ANNOUNCE file says
 new in 1.6.1 is:

 Support for *runtime* detection of AVX2 and SSE2 SIMD instructions,
 allowing running AVX2 capable c-blosc libraries to run on machines
 with no AVX2 available (will use SSE2 instead).
 }}}

 You should [https://github.com/Blosc/c-blosc/issues report this problem to
 the developers of blosc] so they can fix it.
