 did some further testing: crashes only happen on my macpro, while I don't
 see them on a macbook pro, both running  osx 10.10.3. crashes happen with
 'midori' and with 'surf' (not provided by macports but linked against the
 macports provided webkit-gtk library), so it seems the problem migtht
 rather be located in that library. should the webkit-gtk port maintainers
 be notified? `sudo dtruss -ef midori myfile.html` yields
