 Thanks for working on this!  I just installed mpich-gcc5 and tested it:
 mpif90 appears to work fine, but for some reason mpifort does not as the
 transcript below demonstrates.  Any advice?

 localhost:~ rouson$ mpifort --version

 -bash: /opt/local/bin/mpifort: Permission denied

 localhost:~ rouson$ sudo mpifort --version

 sudo: mpifort: command not found

 localhost:~ rouson$ mpif90 --version
