 This definitely sounds like it could be the case.  This machine has gone
 through a number of upgrades.  I actually had never heard of macports
 before this, but something seems like it was using it.   I'll go through
 the steps in the migration instructions and let you know.  Thanks for the
 fantastically quick response.
