Comment:

 It's best to stick with clang as much as possible for compatibility with
 other ports so the best solution would be to resolve the clang 3.4 issue
 or update the the compiler.fallback list in base to pick a better choice
 for your platform.  Of course, you are free to make site specific changes
 to your ports to work around issues like these if you know what to change.

 If you manually build babl as you have indicated can you build a gimp2
 that works?  Or are you using gcc5 for everything?  What version of OS X
 and Xcode are you using?

 Copying a few other developers that may have a more informed opinion on
 this subject.
