 One more thing: the development version we're talking about is 5.7 .
 That's *two* "minor" releases away from the current, and in addition the
 code in question has been rewritten to remove the use of Carbon APIs. In
 other words, even if my patch gets accepted it will not apply "as is" to
 older versions.
