Comment:

 We typically do not release a MacPorts installer for a version of OS X
 until the final version of that version of OS X is released, which for El
 Capitan just happened yesterday. We are preparing a new version of
 MacPorts 2.3.4 which will include an installer for El Capitan. Please
 wait. If you cannot wait, you can install MacPorts from source.

 We are not dying. I'm not sure who, if anyone at this point, handles the
 MacPorts twitter handle. We primarily communicate with users via our
 mailing lists and IRC.
