 I've created a bug report about this on the zim bugtracker:
 https://bugs.launchpad.net/zim/+bug/1489202
 I'm not entirely sure this is a zim issue or a zim 0.63+osx python issue.
 Anyway, see that ticket for a possible fix to these problems.

 If you're using el capitan, you will probably also run into a gtk2 issue
 that can be fixed with a patch from here:
 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=753992
