 For consistency with the compilers PortGroup, I think the default variant
 for mpich-default, mpich-devel-default, openmpi-default, openmpi-devel-
 default should be updated to +gcc5 rather than +gcc49 (i.e. in the line
 {{{set default_fortran_variant}}}). I see these ports are openmaintainer
 now, but I thought I'd check to be sure there wasn't some problem with
 doing that I'm not seeing.

 Would it be possible to replace some of the logic handling the gcc
 versions and g95 for fortran with use of the compilers portgroup, which
 would then make this consistency automatic?
