 I was wondering if ports had some admin command that could scan the ports
 directory and make a new registry.db. Usually these kinds of DBs are a
 kind of cache. Maybe it's automatic? If I just remove it would it be
 rebuilt?

 There are no vSphere level snapshots for this machine.  There is currently
 47 GB available on this disk:
