 Sorry for the delayed response! I reinstalled MacPorts last night and was
 able to successfully GIMP in the end. I didn't even need to forcefully
 activate dbus this time around. Maybe I just got lucky? Haha!

 Oh, I had two other quick questions, if that's okay:
 1- I had to install XQuartz, as well, in order be able to open the GIMP
 app. Is that okay?
 2- If I want to add GAP, what prompt should I use?
