 That's a completely different problem. There's nothing much to explain
 there: the message is clear: "python25 is not supported on Yosemite or
 later".

 Getting back to your original problem. You didn't answer my question. Why
 does the file inputproto.pc already exist on your system? If you cannot
 answer the question, then it's likely there are other files in /opt/local
 that MacPorts did not put there which will cause other problems later. In
 that case, you should
 [https://guide.macports.org/chunked/installing.macports.uninstalling.html
 uninstall MacPorts], including removing the /opt/local directory. That way
 you can be sure there are no unwanted files in there. Then reinstall
 MacPorts and the ports you want.
