I'd prefer not; it's already in the python graveyard (use 3.4 instead).

Or is that likely to cause conflicts with other ports that depend on the
newer one?
I don't think that's the best course. I'd much rather see the readline
variant above until the libedit/ncurses issue is resolved -- or
identified, really. Still unclear as to why not everyone is having issues.
